Peter Grant Mayberry, 57, died suddenly on February 15, 2018 at his home in Washington, DC, of natural causes. An authority on the political process and the U.S. government, Mayberry had a legislative affairs career that spanned 35 years and he used this knowledge to write the Capitol Comments column monthly for Nonwovens Industry. His private company, Mayberry & Associates, LLC, successfully worked with several trade groups advocating for various legislative causes primarily involving the nonwovens industry, trade policy and healthcare. A member of the National Press Club, Mr. Mayberry also served on the board of directors for the American League of Lobbyists and was chairman (2002 - 2004) of the Poison Prevention Week Council.
Mr. Mayberry was a lifelong resident of the Washington metro area. He completed the United States House of Representatives Page Program in 1978, later attending The George Washington University and the College of William and Mary where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in government. He later earned a master's degree in legislative affairs from The George Washington University.
Survivors include a daughter, Hannah Mayberry of Philadelphia, and a son, George Mayberry of Reston, VA.
