A panel discussion, entitled Fem Care Disruptors, was held today at Hygienix featuring experts in women’s health to discuss the needs of women’s throughout their lifespan and how the nonwovens industry can benefit through understanding them and new product development.
Alyssa Dweck, of Drdweck.com, spoke on Menopause, or as she called it, the M word, discussing the symptoms and issues that can affect women for up to a decade prior to reaching menopause like vaginal dryness, weight bain, decreased sex drive and urinary leakage. “It is important tat we change the conversation about menopause from a stigma to a time of freedom for women,” she says. “We need to develop products that women can use either on demand or in preparation for a symptom.”
Rachel Baun Scherl, managing partner, Enrepensur, Spark Solutions for Growth, also told attendees that the landscape is wide open for companies to develop products for the issues that affect women throughout their lives ranging from menstruation to childbirth to sexual health to menopause.
“It is interesting to see how people in this space are looking at new options to meet the needs or women," she says.
