Wemy Industries, Nigeria’s first indigenous manufacturer of baby diapers, women’s sanitary pads and adult diapers, under the brand name Dr Brown’s, is gearing up to strengthen its competitive abilities in the Nigerian diaper market, with a recent intervention by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and funding from the Bank of Industry (BOI).
This comes three and a half years after the company experienced a major setback due to foreign exchange risks, which saw it having to slow down operations.
“We are bringing in adult diaper machines. We are going to be the pioneer adult diaper manufacturer in Nigeria, and we will service the Nigerian market and that of the whole of West Africa by exporting what we produce here to the ECOWAS region,” says managing director of Wemy Industries, Paul Odunaiya.
Dr Brown’s has been a household name in Nigeria since the 1980s, providing superior quality and affordable hygiene products.
Dr Brown’s baby diapers, wipes and adult diapers will also come in new attractive packs and different economic sizes.
