    Minet Group
has been a key player in the nonwovens industry for the past 40 years, since its founding in 1981, during Romania’s communist regime as part of the national industrialization plan. In 1983, the company began producing nonwovens using needlepunching technology in its factory located in Râmnicu Vâlcea. Following its privatization in 1996, Minet expanded its operations into new areas of nonwovens production, while optimizing its existing processes. With over four decades of expertise and a 100% Romanian private capital, Minet has grown to become the leading nonwoven producer in the country.

Presently, Minet Group consists of Minet Nonwovens, Minet Bedding (a company founded in 2001 that produces mattresses and home textiles), Minet Logistics (the group’s own transport company consisting of its own fleet of trucks), and Minet Industries (a company that offers worldwide fiber supply solutions).

Minet’s first nonwoven lines utilized needlepunching technology, but since then, the company has expanded its portfolio to include thermobonding, air laying and hydroentangling technologies. Additionally, Minet operates several textile waste recycling lines and converts mini rolls of geotextiles for applications in construction, filtration, and separation.

“In a highly competitive market, continuous investment and technological optimization are essential guarantees for product and service quality,” says Oana Ecobici, marketing manager at Minet SA. “Recent years of dynamic investment have driven significant technological advancements, aligning both our production capacity and quality standards to the most demanding market requirements.”

Minet specializes in a wide range of nonwoven applications across various industries. In the automotive sector, the company produces high-performance nonwovens designed for acoustic and thermal insulation, specifically for car floors and trunks. In the construction industry, Minet manufactures durable nonwoven geotextiles and related geosynthetic products, catering to large-scale infrastructure projects, geotechnical engineering, environmental solutions and residential developments.

In the hygiene sector, Minet specializes in producing high-quality nonwoven materials for domestic and industrial wet wipes. Additionally, the company supplies nonwovens to national and international manufacturers in the furniture industry for upholstery applications. Minet is also a key provider of voluminous wadding and premium fillings used in pillows, seasonal quilts, blankets and mattress protectors for the bedding and mattress industries.
In the third quarter of this year, Minet is expanding its product portfolio with the launch of Izofelt, a new solution designed for the thermal and acoustic insulation of interior walls. These insulation panels, made from recycled polyester fibers, offer excellent sound absorption properties. “The unique combination of soundproofing, ecological benefits, structural integrity and other important characteristics, such as the fact that they are non-toxic, hypoallergenic and 100% recyclable, set our Izofelt panels apart from competitors in the market,” says Ecobici.

The Izofelt panels are produced using recycled polyester from in-house processes, utilizing state-of-the-art technology. By incorporating recycled materials and enhancing the efficiency of thermal and acoustic insulation in buildings, these panels play a key role in reducing energy consumption and conserving natural resources. This commitment to sustainability not only saves energy but also minimizes the reliance on raw materials.

“The nonwovens industry is experiencing rapid growth, driven by its adaptability, technological innovation and wide-ranging applications across numerous sectors,” says Ecobici. “With increasing global demand, particularly in emerging markets and a growing emphasis on sustainability, the industry is primed for continued expansion. The Covid-19 pandemic underscored the critical role of nonwovens, especially in medical and hygiene applications. At the same time, advancements in technology and evolving regulatory requirements are pushing the development of more sustainable products. Overall, this is an ideal time to be involved in the nonwovens industry,” Ecobici adds.
