An absorbent sanitary product comprising: a first and a second waist-band, at least one of the first and second waist-bands being elastic; an absorbent panel having opposite ends fixed to the first and to the second waist-bands, respectively wherein the at least one of the first and second elastic bands that is elastic comprises: a plurality of elastic threads each having a longitudinal axis, and a pair of non-elastic webs arranged on opposite sides of said plurality of elastic threads, wherein said non-elastic webs are welded together by a repeating welding pattern comprising anchoring welds and guiding welds arranged in pairs at predetermined intervals in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the elastic threads, the repeating welding pattern repeated end to end at least three times in series across the at least one of the first and second waist-bands that is elastic and comprising an anchoring area followed by a guiding area such that at least one of the waist-bands that is elastic comprises a plurality of at least three anchoring areas and a plurality of at least three guiding areas alternating in series, wherein the anchoring welds comprise pairs of welds arranged on opposite sides of a respective elastic thread and spaced apart by a distance greater than the diameter of the tensioned elastic thread but less than the diameter of the non-tensioned elastic thread, the anchoring welds arranged in the plurality of anchoring areas on the at least one of the first and second elastic waist-bands that is elastic, the anchoring areas each comprising at least one of the anchoring weld pairs, and wherein the guiding welds comprise pairs of welds arranged on opposite sides of a respective elastic thread and spaced apart by a distance equal to or greater than the diameter of the non-tensioned elastic thread, the guiding welds arranged in the plurality of guiding areas on the at least one of the first and second elastic waist-bands that is elastic, the guiding areas each comprising at least one of the guiding weld pairs.
