A method comprising: providing a first unit having a field of grip elements and a second unit provided with retention elements suitable for co-operating with the grip elements of the first unit in order to provide a self-gripping fastening; putting the first and second units into contact in such a manner that the grip elements of the first unit and the retention elements of the second unit provide the self-gripping fastening; and treating a treatment zone of the self-gripping fastening through a treatment in order to deform the grip elements of the first unit and/or the retention elements of the second unit, whereby the first and second units are permanently secured to each other, thereby forming an assembled structure, wherein the treatment zone represents at least 50% of a total extent of the self-gripping fastening.
