A method of securing a conductive thread in an absorbent article, the method comprising: passing the conductive thread through a first surface of the absorbent article; anchoring a first length of the conductive thread on the first surface by applying adhesive at a position on the first length of the conductive thread between a point at which the conductive thread passes through the first surface and a first end of the conductive thread to cover at least a portion of the conductive thread and a portion of the first surface, wherein the adhesive does not cover the first end of the conductive thread; subsequent to applying the adhesive, maintaining a second end of the conductive thread in a fixed position relative to the absorbent article and applying tension to the conductive thread at the first end of the conductive thread; and cutting the conductive thread at a point between the first end and the adhesive, and wherein the conductive thread passes through the first surface a second time between the point at which the conductive thread passes through the first surface and the second end of the conductive thread.
