Dreamweaver International and P.H. Glatfelter have completed production scale-up of Dreamweaver Titanium nanofiber-based separator materials for supercapacitors. The Dreamweaver/Glatfelter partnership is the only producer of separators for supercapacitors with production outside of Asia. Nameplate production capacity is 70 million square meters per year, however plans are in place to have additional capacity qualified in 2016 to support the growth of demand in the market.
Samples of materials have been provided which have resulted in multiple qualifications at supercapacitor producers. Linhong Li, CEO of DAE Technologies, says, "The Dreamweaver separators provide a cost – performance point that is not matched by any other producer, helping our pouch cell supercapacitors to deliver much more energy with sufficient power than most devices in the market."
Glatfelter also produces other materials for the energy storage industry, including Dynagrid a comprehensive range of web solutions for lead acid batteries, and Dynacap papers for aluminum electrolytic capacitors. "Having Glatfelter as a producer was a key piece of our decision to use the Dreamweaver separators. We congratulate them on this production success and look forward to having their support as we scale up our own production," says Daniel de los Toyos of Eika, who is launching a line of supercapacitors under the Koneika brand, using Dreamweaver separators.
The partners are initiating a global commercial launch of the product with most major Asian producers already evaluating the materials in production cells. Glatfelter Trade Ltd., Glatfelter's Chinese operations, will be supporting this launch in China along with Dreamweaver's Chinese sales office. ENC International will lead the launch in Korea.
