SCA’s net sales decreased 1% to SEK 105,750 million and operating profit increased 4% to SEK9,224 million in 2011, the company has announced. Among the year’s highlights was the completion of important efficiency improvement measures, the step up in the launch of new products and the achievement of growth in both mature and emerging markets. Sales increased in all business areas and growth in hygiene remained particularly strong in emerging markets. To take advantage of growth in hygiene, SCA made acquisitions and investments in Brazil, Turkey and Russia.
Compared with the third quarter, operating profit for the fourth quarter rose 4%, while net sales were largely unchanged. The operating margin for the hygiene operations continued to grow.
According to executives, demand for personal care products continued to grow overseas while domestic demand for personal care and pet care products remained stable.
