rnOutlook 2009 was held September 23-25 at the Grand Excelsior Hotel, Valleta, Malta. The event attracted nearly 400 delegates from all areas of the disposable products supply chain. These delegates were treated to wide-ranging presentations from industry experts. Reflecting the state of the nonwovens industry, much of Outlook centered around the topic of sustainability and ecofriendliness with some of the green movement’s top experts speaking out on ways to improve nonwovens’ carbon footprint, but other topics including RFID, raw material pricing, the economic crisis and performance parameters for disposable products were also highlighted.

rnIn addition to the conference sessions, this year’s Outlook conference, chaired by Paul Hartmann’s Krzysztof Malowaniec, featured two cocktail receptions, one at the host hotel, the Grand Hotel Excelsior, and the other at The Saluting Battery, which offered views across the Grand Harbour. This battery was originally built by the order of St. John in the 16th century as part of the main defenses of Valetta.
