An incontinence item in the form of pants has received a U.S. pant. The pants-style item has a from belly section, a rear back section and a crotch section. The rear back section is connected to the front belly section during manufacture at the side seam as on both sides. This forms a belly and back band which is continuous in a transverse or peripheral hip direction and defines a hip opening which is closed in the peripheral hip direction. The crotch section contains an absorbent body and al liquid impermeable backsheet material and the crotch section extends in al longitudinal direction betwee the belly section and the back section. The crotch section overlaps at least 12% of a surface of the said belly section and at least 20% of a surface of the said back sectionat least in transition areas between the crotch section and belly section, has a reinforcing coating which extends over the entire crotch section in transverse direction.
