BASF is a world leader in developing advanced innovations in chemistry and customer partnerships to elevate the performance of today’s materials and create dynamic nonwovens for the future. At IDEA, BASF will be showcasing expertise in binders, coatings, and additives to elevate performance of nonwoven materials used in construction and related applications. Specifically, BASF will focus on two of its newest offerings with environmental responsibility and sustainability in mind. Acronal 4888 is a water-based binder used to bring strength to polyester roofing substrate produced from recycled plastic bottles. Acrodur binders are high-performance water-based binders for natural, synthetic and glass fiber nonwovens replacing traditional formaldehyde-containing or solvent-based resins such as melamine, urea and phenol formaldehyde across a wide range of applications. Acrodur thermosetting resin technology not only optimizes finished product performance, but also allows manufacturers to supply low-VOC emitting products, supports indoor air quality (IAQ), and helps to reduce plant emissions. BASF offers end-to-end solutions for construction and industrial nonwovens that can enhance existing product performance and inspire pioneering nonwovens for the future in applications such as abrasives, ceiling and wall panels, coatings, filtration, glass insulation, masking tape, and roofing.
