By expanding its site in Pune, the Optima Group is strengthening its position in the key market of India. The integration of an experienced engineering team lays the foundation for even greater customer proximity and innovative strength.
Optima is continuing its international growth with determination – and is making a clear statement in the world’s most dynamic market: On April 1, 2025, Optima India welcomed 40 engineering specialists from the service provider Eckstein in Pune. This strategic move not only secures valuable expertise but also strengthens the group’s long-term position in India, a market full of future opportunities.
“This decision is more than just a personnel expansion – it is a strategic investment in global proximity, technological excellence, and sustainable growth,” says Stefan König, CEO of the Optima Group. “With Pune as a strong engineering hub, we are boosting our innovative strength right at the heart of the Asian market. Our customers benefit from even more technical expertise – faster, closer, and more efficiently.”
Pune is one of India’s leading technology centers and attracts highly qualified professionals, particularly in mechanical engineering. Optima is tapping into this potential: the new colleagues have already worked with Optima in recent years and bring deep process knowledge and specific market insights.
“We are integrating a well-established and experienced team, giving us immediate operational strength,” says Christoph Mueller, managing director of Optima international GmbH. “Together with our team on site, we will seize the opportunities this market offers and continue to grow – with speed and quality.”
The Pune site will be led by Akshay Chikodi. He has held several key positions at Optima since 2012 – most recently as director Sales & Service. With his local roots and global perspective, he will continue to develop the Pune location.
With a population of around 1.4 billion and a rapidly growing industry, India is one of the most attractive markets worldwide. Optima has been active in the country since 2011 with its own subsidiary in Bangalore. The recent expansion is a logical next step and part of a clearly defined long-term strategy.
“Our vision is clear: We want to be even closer to our customers around the world while expanding our technological leadership,” explains König. “India, with its dynamic pharmaceutical industry, is a key location – and this step sends a strong signal: We are fully committed to global excellence.”
