Conventional cleansing wipes may remove makeup, but they may also be made from plastics, a concern for waste as such wipes break down into microplastics which can be harmful to human health and disrupt ecosystems. They may also contain a combination of chemicals of concern, such as formaldehyde-releasing chemicals, foaming ingredients, parabens and synthetic fragrances, which are well understood to trigger skin irritation.
