Pura, an ecofriendly disposable diaper brand, has announced it has recycled 200,000 diapers at a Bristol, U.K. diaper recycling center. Pura has partnered with recycling company NappiCycle since 2020 to reduce diaper waste in landfills.
The two companies had their first recycling trial in 2022 when they announced they had saved 31,500 diapers from landfills. That same year, Pura NappiCycle partner, U.K. retailer Asda, repurposed diaper waste to create in-store signage in 320 of its stores. Other uses for the repurposed materials included road surface applications.
Pura NappiCycle has established bi-weekly schedule to collect the used diapers from U.K. daycares and households to bring them to the Bristol site.
Pura was founded in 2020 by Cheshire, U.K. parents Guy and Abi Fennell. Following a successful launch into the U.S. market via Walmart in 2023, Pura has become a top choice for both U.S. and U.K. parents who want to do their best for their babies and their planet, while still enjoying the convenience of disposable baby care.
In 2023, Pura and Nappicycle extended their partnership for five years.
