Texfelt, part of the JR Group, reported a 20% increase in flooring sales last year. The U.K.-based company credits this substantial growth to the £10 million investment in Texfelt’s Cutler Heights manufacturing plant in Bradford. This investment was pivotal in steering the company towards a forward-thinking, innovative direction that has revitalized the flooring and furniture industry and has helped make exfelt’s Springbond product a market leader in high-performance, fully recyclable underlay.
Since its inception, Springbond, a specially developed nonwoven technology that provides a complete PU foam replacement for underlay, upholstery, and bedding, has prevented 60 million plastic bottles from ending up in landfills due to its construction from 85% recycled PET plastic bottles.
The innovation has led to Texfelt securing several key partnerships with brands seeking high-quality products that minimixe environmental impact and have low VOCs for the benefit of consumer health. These partnerships have supported Texfelt’s growth in the UK and expanded its presence in international markets. In particular, Texfelt has expanded aggressively in the commercial furniture markets in the UK and among mattress manufacturers across Europe and the Middle East as organizations look to move away from traditional PU foams due to Springbond®’s performance and environmental benefits.
To support growth plans, Texfelt has named Danny Shortall’s group sales director. He will play a pivotal role in enhancing our sales and marketing functions, engaging with customers across our product range, and identifying new commercial opportunities that align with our values. Other recent appointments include Tony Bynon as business development manager to assist our flooring retail partners and emphasise our products’ high performance and sustainability advantages.
Moreover, we have increased the headcount of our European Sales Teams by appointing a multilingual Business Development Manager to improve service for our international customers.
“As a company at the forefront of innovation, we recognize that customers increasingly demand products that excel not only in performance but also in sustainability," Shortall says. "Texfelt meets this need by delivering solutions that outperform traditional options while advancing environmental goals. We’re excited about the future and confident that our strategic initiatives will drive continued growth and success within upholstery, mattress, and commercial seating sectors in the UK and worldwide.”
