Unicharm Corporation has acquired “CoC Certification”* of PEFC Forest Stewardship Program, an international forest stewardship council at five plants in Japan(Fukushima, Shizuoka, Shikoku-Chuo, Shikoku-Onohara and Kyushu) making it the first maker of disposable diapers and feminine hygiene products in Japan that has acquired the certification.
Unicharm Group has formulated “Kyo-sei Life Vision 2030,” a medium-to-long term ESG goal, and acquired PEFC*1 “CoC Certification”for ensuring that its manufactures and distribute the products using the wood-derived raw materials (paper, pulp) sourced from the properly administered forests. Products with this label are “proved” to be using the sustainable resources. With the acquisition of “CoC Certification,” Unicharm will start putting the “PEFC Certification Label” on the packages of Natural Moony and Natural Moonyman, its highest quality premium disposable diaper, starting in March 2021.
Unicharm believes the certification contributes two of the 17 sustainabilty goals adopted by the UN in 2015—ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns and protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of ecosystems.
Going forward, Unicharm will continue to set sustainable development goals (SDGs) to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
