In relation to the announcement made by Thrace Group on April 24, 2020, regarding the permanent cessation of operations in the fully owned subsidiary Thrace Linq Inc., the company announces that the sale and transfer of the privately owned industrial property located in Summerville, SC, has been completed.
An affiliate of Boston-based GFI Investors purchased the 563,154-square-foot building on 43 acres for $14.5 million. According to a report in The Post and Courier, Thrace signed over the deed to its property, its production line and equipment last week to the real estate group.
In December Thrace Group had already announced it would transfer a needlepunch line from Thrace Linq to its Don & Low facility located in Forfar, Scotland, with the goal of strengthening and consolidating its presence in the U.K. and Northwestern Europe.
Thrace Linq had completed an expansion, an Andritz needlepunch nonwoven line in Summerville, SC, in February 2019. At the time, the company said the $9 million investment was intended to satisfy the growing demand for its high performance nonwoven fabrics in North America.
