The factories focus on two important pillars. The first pillar is energy-efficiency. Drylock Technologies has recent production lines which enable the close monitoring and reduction of energy consumption.
The second pillar is the switch to green energy. The production processes require a lot of electrical energy and, depending on the country, this can have a significant impact on the climate. It is therefore extremely important to switch to renewable energy and thus supports the transition to a low-carbon economy. This has already been achieved for all factories since January 2020. "Having sustainable and environmentally friendly products and manufacturing unit is very important to us," says Werner van Ingelgem, spokesman for the management of Drylock Technologies. "We want our customers to feel comforted when using our products but also see this as a social obligation that benefits all parties. So we will keep on pushing the limits towards ever more sustainability."
Some emissions, which cannot yet be avoided thanks to renewable energies, are offset by Drylock Technologies through so-called certified climate projects. For example, Drylock Technologies supports the production of renewable energy in India, which has a positive impact on the climate, but also takes into account the needs of the local population (improved air quality, gender equality, access to affordable and clean energy, etc.).
Furthermore, Drylock is also supporting a Brazilian Native Forest Conservation project to safe it from deforestation. Going beyond CO2-neutral factories the company intends to cover the climate impact of some of its products. Together with CO2logic, the company has calculated the CO2 intensity of its diapers and will hence start to also take its responsibility for the impact of a select number of products.
Antoine Geerinckx, founder and CEO of the independent climate consultancy CO2logic, says, “The climate crises has invited itself into board rooms and that is a good sign. Just like the past 13 years, we continue to work closely with companies that really want to do something about their climate impact. Our "CO2 Neutral" label is a recognition and guarantee that the certified company knows its climate impact, reduces it and does not pass it on to society. "
CO2logic is an independent climate consultancy that specializes in calculating, reducing and offsetting CO2 emissions. CO2logic also develops and supports climate projects in developing countries (Burkina Faso, Benin, RDC, Rwanda, Uganda ...), together with local NGOs. These projects offset the residual CO2 emissions of our customers and partners. The "CO2 Neutral" label guarantees that organizations actually tackle their climate impact. (www.CO2-neutral-label.org).
