Campen Machinery A/S, Denmark, has appointed Pia Holm Hansen as development manager. The appointment is part of an extension of Campen's unique knowledge of the airlaid technology and a result of an increased international demand for machines for the manufacture of biodegradable airlaid materials.

In cooperation with the existing team under the leadership of Jens Erik Thordahl, senior airlaid specialist, Holm Hansen will be in charge of the development and take part in the sale of advanced airlaid machines that can process recycled materials. In addition, a large part of Holm Hansen's job assignments will be to advise customers who would like to develop new products, optimize their productions or improve their final products.
Holm Hansen has more than 30 years of experience with airlaid technology. Moreover, she has experience with fibrrs for the airlaid and nonwoven industries among others and most recently a background as quality engineer with FiberVisions a/s.
Airlaid is a textile-like, absorbing material, which is used in sanitary towels, wet wipes, wound healing products, nappies and other products for personal hygiene as well as in the food and pharmaceutical industries. The Campen team is working on developing technologies and machines where the conventional, synthetic fibers can be replaced by biofibres and recycled materials.
In cooperation with Campen's customers, the products (conventional and biodegradable) are mainly developed on Campen's new, patented pilot line on the basis of the individual customer’s requirements for a new product.
Holm Hansen explains: “As a machine manufacturer, we have a responsibility to develop airlaid machines that can use biodegradable materials, but also conventional materials, and at the same time a process with low energy and water consumptions must be ensured. During recent years, the Campen team has already succeeded well in this respect, and I look forward to contributing to this positive, green development.”
