Kimberly-Clark will close an absorbent hygiene plant in Eldorado do Sul, Brazil, according to a report in Tissue Brazil. The facility was opened 23 years ago and employs about 260 workers. Production will be transferred to other K-C sites in Brazil including those in Sao Paulo, Correia Pinto, Camacari and Suzano Mogi das Cruzes.
The closure is a part of a company-wide global restructuring program that will lead to the closure of about 10 plants and a workforce reduction of 5000-5500 employees globally. K-C has already confirmed closures in Wisconsin, Arkansas and California.
