Following approval by the board of directors and management, the nonwovens business formerly owned by DuPont will now be included in the Specialty Products company expected to be spun off of the newly merged DowDuPont. Following recommendations of a team of independent advisors, the newly merged company made a number of adjustments between the Materials Science—where the nonwovens business was originally set to land—and Specialty Products divisions to enhance the companies' competitive advantage.
Dow and DuPont merged last month with the intention of creating, and eventually spinning off, three standalone companies. In addition to Specialty Products, these companies inlcude Materials Science and Agriculture. The Specialty Products company will be headquartered in Wilmington, DE. In addition to the safety and construction division, which will inlcude nonwovens, the company will include electronics and imaging, transportation and advanced polymers and nutrition and biosciences.
