In April–June 2017, Suominen’s
net sales increased by 3% from the comparison period to €112 million ($132 million). Improved demand was reflected in growing sales volumes, which in turn increased net sales, whereas lower sales prices had a negative effect on net sales. The changes in U.S. dollar exchange rate compared to euro improved net sales by €1.5 million ($1.76 million) from the comparison period.
Suominen has two business areas, Convenience and Care. The Convenience business area supplies nonwovens as roll goods for a wide range of wiping applications. The Care business area manufactures nonwovens for hygiene products and medical applications. Net sales of the Convenience business area were €103 million ($121.4 million) and net sales of the Care business area €9.1 million ($10.7 million).
