RKW AG, Worms, Germany, has acquired German nonwovens producer Hydrospun Nonwoven GmbH in Halberstadt to further consolidates its position in the nonwovens sector. The new member of the RKW Group currently employs 30 people and in the future it will trade under the name RKW Hydrospun GmbH. “By acquiring Hydrospun Nonwoven GmbH, we have expanded our product range to include spunlaced continuous fiber nonwovens and we will therefore be able to develop new areas of application and tap into new markets,” said Werner Feistkorn, the chairman of the executive management board of RKW AG, in explaining this strategic step.
In addition, RKW will build a spunlace line at its Gronau site. The new line will have an annual capacity of 5000 tons and is scheduled to start operating in the second quarter of 2008.
RKW is one of Europe’s leading supplier of films for the hygiene and medical and in-dustrial agricultural segments as well as a supplier of spunbonded nonwovens.
