General Nonwovens Completes Technical Textiles Line
Investment will serve wide range of markets with multi-beam, bicomponent technologies
General Nonwovens has started up its advanced technical textiles production line, marking an important step in the company’s ongoing portfolio diversification strategy. The new multi-layer composite production line has been developed by General Nonwovens’ in-house project team to serve a wide range of technical textile applications, with an initial focus on filtration, industrial, household care and engineered nonwoven solutions.
Designed with flexible bicomponent capabilities, the multi-beam line enables processing of multiple polymer types including PP, PET, PLA and PA supporting the development of a broad product range tailored to evolving market requirements across technical textile sectors. The new technology also supports the development of biodegradable and more sustainable nonwoven solutions aligned with increasing industry demand for environmentally responsible materials.
General Nonwovens announced the new line in May 2025. At the time, the investment was reported at €40 million.
“Alongside our strong position in hygiene nonwovens, we continue to expand our capabilities in technical and engineered materials. With this new investment, we are broadening our reach beyond conventional applications and creating opportunities for innovative solutions across technical textile sectors,” says Alican Yilankirkan, board member, General Nonwovens.
“INDEX Geneva represents an important opportunity for us to introduce our latest developments and connect with partners seeking advanced nonwoven solutions,” he adds. “Backed by 25 years of nonwoven expertise, we continue to strengthen our market position through continuous investment, innovation and new product development, with additional projects already in our pipeline. At every INDEX exhibition, we present new developments that reflect our long-term commitment to the industry.”
