Gulsan has announced its new investment in Cairo, Egypt, the company’s first line outside of Turkey. The new line, which will be operational in the third quarter of 2013, will be a 4.2 meter, six-beam Reicofil 4 machine capable of producing 20,000 tons of the material for the hygiene market a year. According to Gulsan, the decision to invest in Egypt will support its future growth in the industry and the region and reinforces the company’s position as one of the leading manufacturers of spunmelt materials in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Gulsan is the second nonwovens manufacturer to announce Egyptian investment this year. In September, Czech-based Pegas said it would add a 20,000-ton spunmelt line there, a move that also represented that company’s first investment outside of its home country.
