Valco Melton Expands vmGenesis Platform

Slot capabilities maximize uptime across hygiene production lines through electric gluing technology

Following the success of vmGenesis for intermittent hot melt spray applications, Valco Melton is expanding its electric gluing technology with the introduction of slot coating capabilities, enabled by a newly developed snuff-back module that ensures precise, clean adhesive cut-off in high-speed intermittent applications. This development allows manufacturers to extend the benefits of electric adhesive application across the entire production line, drastically reducing maintenance, minimizing downtime, and improving overall efficiency.

In hygiene product manufacturing, unplanned downtime and frequent maintenance are key factors impacting productivity and cost. Conventional pneumatic applicators rely on moving components and dynamic seals that wear over time, leading to frequent service interventions, spare part replacement, and production interruptions.

With zero dynamic seals and no dependence on compressed air, vmGenesis delivers: up to 10 times longer service life, fewer and simpler maintenance interventions, lower spare part consumption and inventory costs and reduced unplanned downtime and higher line availability.

“This is where electric technology makes a difference.” says Carlos Lorente, Global Sales Manager, Nonwoven Division, at Valco Melton. “On these lines, every stop has a cost. It’s not just lost production, there’s energy being consumed while the machine is down, skilled operator time, the additional inventory cost… vmGenesis is not just about applying adhesive, it’s about keeping the line running longer and more consistently.

By removing the root causes of wear and variability, vmGenesis turns adhesive application from a maintenance-intensive process into a stable, predictable operation. Electric gluing technology ensures stable performance and repeatable pattern consistency over time, unaffected by air quality or pressure fluctuations. By reducing the frequency and complexity of maintenance tasks, it allows teams to focus on higher-value activities or more critical operations.

The result is a measurable improvement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), driven by increased uptime, reduced intervention, and more consistent product quality.

With the addition of slot coating application, vmGenesis now supports all adhesive technologies used in hygiene production lines.

While spray applications marked the starting point of electric gluing adoption, the new slot coating capability allows manufacturers to extend the same durability and uptime benefits to a broader range of processes, particularly in feminine hygiene applications such as release paper, wings, and easy wrap, where high-speed intermittent performance and precise cutoff are critical.

This not only ensures consistent performance at key application points, but also helps reduce maintenance requirements across the line and supports a gradual transition to fully electric production lines.
