Polymer-based material contains 25% post-consumer recycled content

Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has launched re/loop FlowWrap for wet wipes packaging, helping customers in the home and personal care industry transition to more sustainable polymer-based packaging.
Re/loop FlowWrap is a form-fill-and-seal solution (FFS) made from mono-polypropylene (PP) that replaces non-recyclable laminates for applications requiring a customizable barrier, such as baby care, cosmetics, and household wipes. It is compatible with polypropylene (PP) mechanical recycling according to the CEFLEX D4ACE guidelines and contains 35% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
Extensive internal testing and customer trials demonstrated performance comparable to virgin-based alternatives, including reliable sealing, barrier protection and smooth machinability for wet wipes applications. The solution is compatible with existing packaging lines, enabling a straightforward switch to re/loop FlowWrap.
Beginning January 1, 2030, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) sets a target of 35% recycled content from post-consumer plastic waste for this category of plastic packaging. With 35% recycled content, Mondi’s innovative solution is well-positioned to support future compliance with this target and help brands and converters meet sustainability requirements while maintaining product protection and line efficiency.
External trials on IMA Ilapak equipment confirmed strong runnability at very high line speeds for wet wipes packaging. Industry professionals had an early opportunity to see the new material at the INDEX this year, where Mondi and IMA Ilapak showcased re/loop FlowWrap operating live on packaging machinery. The trials highlight Mondi’s focus on material innovation and collaboration with machine partners and customers. For years, Mondi has helped customers advance their sustainability goals by integrating post-consumer recycled content into packaging solutions as market needs and regulations evolve.
“With this launch, we show that wet wipes packaging can move towards circularity without sacrificing performance,” says Alessandro D’Agostino, Business Development Manager Home and Personal Care, Mondi Consumer Flexibles. “By combining a material designed for recycling with PCR content and excellent machinability, we help customers transition faster towards sustainable packaging solutions while maintaining operational efficiency.”
