Two new sites will produce interior and acoustic components for vehicles
July 22, 2026

Autoneum, a producer of acoustic and thermal management solutions and protection systems for vehicle underbodies and batteries, is building two new production facilities in China. The new sites will produce interior and acoustic components for several vehicle programs recently awarded by Chinese OEMs, including Chery. The investments underscore Autoneum’s long-term commitment to the Chinese automotive market and its strategy to serve customers through strong local-for-local production capabilities.
The larger of the two new plants is being built in Wuhu, Anhui province, China, and will cover a total area of 20,000 square meters. A second facility with a production area of 5,000 square meters is under construction in Anqing, Anhui province. Both plants are scheduled to start production in the second half of 2026 and will employ around 400 people in total.
At the new facilities, Autoneum will manufacture a range of interior and acoustic components, including carpets, inner dashes, outer dashes and e-motor encapsulations. The plants will support the production of components for multiple recently awarded vehicle programs from Chinese OEM Chery, while also providing additional capacity to serve customers in one of China’s key automotive manufacturing hubs.
Autoneum is maintaining close and trusted relationships with various top OEMs in China, supporting the customers both within the country and in its ongoing international expansion. The new plants further strengthen Autoneum’s ability to provide reliable local supply, short decision paths and efficient industrialization in one of the world’s most important automotive markets.
“The recent new business awards from Chery are a strong endorsement of our technology expertise and operational performance,” says Eelco Spoelder, CEO of Autoneum. “They not only reflect the trust our customers place in us but also support our market position in China. With these investments, we are further strengthening our local presence to reliably deliver innovative solutions for current and future vehicle programs.”
China remains a central pillar of Autoneum’s global growth strategy. By continuously expanding its production network and leveraging its global technology expertise at the local level, Autoneum is well positioned to capture further growth opportunities in the world’s largest automotive market.
In 2025, Autoneum acquired Chinese automotive suppliers Jiangsu Huanyu Group and Chengdu Yiqi‑Sihuan Group, both specialists in acoustic and thermal management solutions with strong positions among leading Chinese OEMs. These acquisitions significantly broadened Autoneum’s customer base in China, enhanced its local development and production capabilities and contributed to increased revenue generation in the region.
The company remains committed to further growing its business in Asia and to increasing the region’s contribution to the group’s profitable growth over the medium term, in line with its corporate strategy.
