Process for Producing Laminated Sheet Comprising Alumina Fiber Precursor

Patent #: 7,101,613

Inventor(s): Mamoru Shoji, Norio Ikeda and Toshiaki Sasaki

Company: Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation

Filed: 2003-05-16

Issued: 2006-09-05

Description:
A continuous alumina fiber sheet with a basis weight was patented. The sheet includes a predetermined weight percentage of Al2O3 and a predetermined weight percentage of SiO2. The predetermined weight percentages of the Al2O3 and the SiO2 are selected so that the alumina fiber sheet exhibits a scatter of basis weight with an upper limit of 7.7%. The continuous alumina fiber sheet is produced by folding a thin lamina sheet of alumina fiber precursor by a predetermined width while stacking the folded sheet and continuously moving the stacked sheet in a direction orthogonal to the folding direction to form a laminated sheet, and then calcining the laminated sheet.
