A pants-type diaper blank formed according to the method of forming blanks, which are adapted to be formed into pants type diaper has been patented. The diaper contains first and second parallel traveling webs with inner edges facing each other, defining on the first and second webs part of a pants type diaper including locations for leg openings and a crotch area in between. A layer of adhesive is applied on the webs around the leg openings and laying down elastic strips on the adhesive in a semicircular pattern around the leg opening locations on both of the first and second traveling webs and through the crotch area. The elastic strips are bonded to each of the inner webs and have unbonded portions between the webs. The first and second traveling webs are longitudinally slit to sever part of the webs along the inner edges and the crotch area's elastic. The severed portion of the first and second traveling webs and the elastic are removed. A cover sheet is laminated over the remaining first and second traveling webs and all material from the leg openings are cut and removed.
