An absorbent structure comprising an integral absorbent element without any identifiable laminate layers has been patented. The absorbent structure features an upper and lower surface, defining an absorbent element thickness, and a first and second high absorbency zone. The first high absorbency zone is separated from the second by a portion of the absorbent element thickness. The first and second high absorbency zones contain a mixture of absorbent fibers and superabsorbent polymer particles.
