Gulsan has invested in breathable and non-breathable film and textile backsheet manufacturing at its site in 6th of October, Egypt. The company has been manufacturing film materials at its Turkey location since 2011 and is currently able to make more than three billion square meters of the material per year. The expansion in Egypt will allow Gulsan to meet market needs for highly sophisticated state-of-the-art technology.
The €65 million investment will allow Gulsan to make 1.5 billion square meters per year, or 120 million square meters per month, of breathable and non-breathable film, textile backsheet and pre-laminates.
The film site will be located in the same compound where Gulsan manufactures spunmelt nonwovens in 6th of October in Egypt. Gulsan began making spunmelt nonwovens in Egypt site in 2011 and added a second line to the operation in 2018.
The construction on the films line has already started, and Gulsan will begin commissioning the first 50% of the capacity in September 2025 and the remaining capacity nine months later.
The new investments will reinforces the company’s position as one of the leading manufacturers of film and textile backsheet products in addition to the spunmelt nonwovens to supply high quality, innovative and diversified nonwovens and films to its business partners for baby diaper, adult care, feminine care, medical and health care products in EMEA region.”
