A manufacturer of air through bonded nonwovens primarily for feminine hygiene and baby care applications, Beijing Dayuan Nonwovens reported sales of $121 million in 2021. According to executives, the company’s business is able to maintain stability due it its strong relationships with its customers, which comprise Chinese and multinational brands.
The company currently operates 17 air through bonded lines with 40,000 tons of output as well as one spunlace line with 8000 tons of capacity. The company has four plants in Beijing, Tianjin, Suzhou and Yangzhou, China. The company’s newest plant, in Yangzhou, also holds its newest asset—its seventeenth air through bonding line, which completed this year. This plant will continue to expand in sync with market demand.
Currently, about 70% of sales are conducted within China while the remaining are sold overseas, mainly in South Korea and Japan for the company’s spunlaced products and South Asia and Europe for its air through bonded nonwovens.
Dayuan tends to focus on Chinese customers for its wipes business while targeting international brands for its air through bonded nonwovens. “Due to the continuous increase of international logistics costs, air through nonwoven prices competitiveness of China’s exports has declined,” Zhang says. “However, Dayuan still strives for both domestic and overseas markets, especially in Southeast Asia and EMEA.”
In terms of product development, Dayuan has focused on aperturing and three-dimensional nonwovens to meet demand in the medium- and high-tier sanitary napkin and baby diaper market. Aperturing nonwovens increases breathability and rapid intake in absorbent products while the three-dimensional technology increases comfort. These technologies can also be combined with patterns to offer more designs on the absorbent products.
