Established in 1980, Mega Disposables produces a wide range of hygienic disposables including sanitary napkins, pantyliners, baby diapers, wet wipes, cotton and incontinence products. The company’s offices and production plant are situated in Athens, Greece, and Mega employs 524 people, has a turnover of €170 million and holds a leading position in disposables in the Greek market.
Continuous investments over the years in state-of-the-art technology and top quality control systems has secured a strong presence in more than 30 countries abroad. Today, Mega is one of the largest manufacturers of branded personal hygiene products in Europe.
Mega continuously renews its technological equipment, while investing in production lines for new products. The company recently made major investments in new equipment mainly for baby diapers and incontinence products and is in the last stages of completing a significant €40 million investment plan.
“The main pillars of our activity are continuous innovation and excellent quality,” says Danae Vitouladitis of Mega Disposables. “This has led us to a considerable growth of five times the exports since 2010.”
One of Mega’s main innovations is its “Sensitive concept,” offering top absorbency levels and exceptional skin-friendliness properties. Through consumer research, Mega observed the growing need of women for protection without irritation, as well as the trend towards selecting more skin-friendly materials. In 1997, the company responded to this need by creating a true innovation: the first “Sensitive” sanitary napkin worldwide, with a hygienic skin-friendly topsheet made of fibers. Meanwhile, Mega’s baby diapers, under the Babylino Sensitive name, have also been specifically studied to offer not only absorbency and comfort, but also exceptional skin-friendly properties. “Our company simply focuses on consumers’ needs and responds to them,” Vitouladitis says.
Having successfully set its unique “Sensitive” proposal in personal hygiene, Mega will now focus more heavily on innovative product design, with a promise to offer improved products with enhanced skin-friendliness, as well as environmentally friendly properties. “Our vision is to offer the most hygienic personal care proposal to consumers around the globe,” she adds.
Having already established itself on four continents, Mega Disposables is focused on strengthening its presence in its existing export markets and penetrating new markets.
