Indorama Ventures will add 15,000 tons of extrusion-based fiber spinning capacity to the Auriga Polymers manufacturing site in Spartanburg, SC.
For several years Auriga Polymers has been broadening its polyester staple fiber offering to the fast-growing nonwoven fabric industry. With this new expansion, Auriga Polymers will be able to produce fibers based on environmentally-friendly polymers such as PLA as well as specialty polyester and post-consumer recycled polymers. Many of these fibers are currently being produced by other manufacturing companies in the Indorama Ventures family.
“Indorama Ventures is constantly evolving its portfolio and technologies to help our customers grow,” comments Tom Brekovsky, vice president, polymers and fibers, Auriga Polymers Inc. “This added capacity increases Auriga’s position to support our customers who are seeing growing demand for specialty materials in all sectors of the nonwovens marketplace. Through the co-location of specialty polyester polymers and staple fiber production at our Auriga Polymers Spartanburg site, we are uniquely positioned to tailor our fiber portfolio to our customers’ requirements. Auriga’s staple fibers have been setting a high standard in the US marketplace for many years, and we are very excited about the many possibilities we will be able to offer to our customers in the future.”
The Auriga Polymers manufacturing site in Spartanburg, SC was acquired by Indorama Ventures in 2011.
