Just seven weeks after shaking up the consumer goods industry with news that it would market its own line of private label baby diapers and wipes, Amazon has pulled the diapers from the market, at least for now. The move reportedly comes after some negative consumer feedback on the diapers.
“Based on early customer feedback, we are making some design improvements to the diaper,” the company said in an email to customers on Wednesday. Amazon offered these shoppers a $25 credit for their troubles and said they’d these like customers to try out the new diapers when they are ready for sale."
The Amazon line of Elements diapers, which were made by Canadian Irving Personal Care, were available only to Amazon Prime subsribers who pay a $99 fee annually for the service. The launch marked the first time the online retailer launched its own brand of goods in the consumables category. The baby wipes products, also sold under the Elements brand, are still available. They are being manufactured by NIce-Pak.
