In 2014, well-known nonwovens industry veteran A.Celli celebrated an important milestone—its 70th anniversary. Since its founding in 1944 by Alvaro Celli, the Lucca-based company has transformed into one of Italy’s leading machinery suppliers.
In 1960, the company was taken over by Marco and Piero Celli who began selling winders to the global paper industry. This business was expanded in 1979 with the establishment of a nonwoven winder business. More recently, A.Celli has been led by cousins Mauro Celli and Alessandro Celli, who today serve as presidents of the two companies, A.Celli Paper S.p.A. and A.Celli Nonwovens S.p.A. The former is dedicated to tissue, flat papers and cardboard while the latter is focused solely on nonwovens. This new structure set off a period of continuous growth that set the foundations for the creation of the A.Celli Group, opening the way to major development in terms of visibility and results for both business areas.
A.Celli Paper is specialized in technologically advanced system solutions for complete turnkey plants in the manufacture and rebuilding of tissue paper machines with a daily production capacity from 30 to 260 tons, and of rewinders for tissue, flat papers and cardboard. Meanwhile, A.Celli Nonwovens is specialized in winding, rewinding and packaging lines, palletizing and reel handling for nonwovens.
The product range includes accessory systems such as automatic positioning systems of cutting units and automatic cutting systems for cardboard cores, unwinders and multifunctional lines with printing systems and technology for producing airlaid nonwovens.
By creating this new organization, the company has changed its entire focus, transforming from a company entirely focused on mechanical production to one focused on being a center of excellence and expertise. Growth, ensuring customers the best results in terms of performance, innovation and quality, optimization of investments and the establishment of long-term relationships and partnerships count among the achievements that the company can be proud of today.
As it celebrates seven decades in business, A.Celli now has operations in Coral Springs, FL, Shanghai, China, and Moscow, Russia, in addition to its Italian headquarters. It has over 200 employees and €120 million ($149.5 million) in annual sales.
All of these successes and growth over the past 70 years is what encouraged management to organize a celebratory event at Agriturismo Corte Benedetto in Capannori, Italy. The event was the perfect occasion for taking a moment to look back, fondly remembering the hard work and success stories that led to this point, and celebrating with everyone who has been a part of it, all the while keeping an eye to the future, according to Celli.
