An absorbent article extending in the longitudinal and transverse directions comprising a front portion, a rear portion, and a crotch portion arranged between said front portion and said rear portion in the longitudinal direction, wherein the absorbent article comprises at least one elastic portion and at least one non-elastic portion, wherein said at least one non-elastic portion comprises a plurality of first indicia in a first pattern and the at least one elastic portion comprises a plurality of second indicia in a second pattern, and wherein the distance between adjacent second indicia comprising the second pattern increases as the at least one elastic portion is stretched such that, when the at least one elastic portion is stretched by a predetermined force, the second pattern on the at least one elastic portion matches the first pattern on the at least one non-elastic portion.
