Last month, Japanese hygiene manufacturer Unicharm said it completed the scheduled acquisition of CFA International Paper Products in Singapore, who owns 88% of shares in Myanmar Care Products, a leading supplier of feminine napkin and disposable baby diapers in Myanmar, as well as 10% of outstanding shares in Mycare, its Thailand affiliate.
The acquisition gives Unicharm a total of 98% voting rights of outstanding shares in Mycare. The integrated management of the two companies is expected to further strengthen Unicharm's leadig position in Myanmar and other rapidly growing ASEAN countries.
Following the acquistion, Myanmar Care Products changed its name to Mycare Unicharm. The company, founded in 1995, is the manufacturer of Eva feminine hygiene and MyBaby baby diapers, which are both well known throughout Myanmar, a a fast-growing southeast Asian country with a population of 62 million.
