Mattex Geosynthetics started its new nonwoven line in Saudi Arabia. The company specializes in manufacturing high tenacity polypropylene needlepunched and thermally bonded geotextiles.
The new state-of-the-art nonwoven production facility is located in Al Jubail adjacent to the biggest polypropylene raw material manufacturers in the world.
Mattex Geosynthetics targets the top end of the market and extensive research resulted in the offering of a wide range of woven and nonwoven geotextiles. Mattex supports the evolution within the geotextiles market which focusses on performance/unit weight versus weight based nonwovens. This results in significant savings in raw materials, transport and installation costs and improvements of the constructions. The nonwoven geotextiles market is becoming more and more mature and the reduction of the carbon footprint is also high on the Mattex agenda.
The production of the GeoMatt nonwovens started in August 2013 and Mattex has the ambition to expand and diversify its activities further. Mattex also announced earlier this year the construction of its first expansion outside the Middle East with a $60 million production facility in Georgia in the U.S.
