Moisture measurement system
Streat Instruments of New Zealand has launched the new Drycom 8+ Moisture Measurement system. The latest generation of the range of moisture systems has been further refined by virtue of its flexible operator and plant interface in response to customers exacting requirements – especially in processing of shorter production runs.
The Drycom 8+ Series provides advanced functionality and ease of use to assist processors to optimize production processes and maximize productivity, product quality, operating efficiencies and profitability.

A range of"black-box" variants is now available for seamless integration into OEM control systems or existing plant SCADA systems. The system can be applied to a wide range of applications from loose fiber processing, through to healthcare and sanitary textiles and nonwovens. Many of the new features have been extended to the portable Labcom 8+ system aimed at laboratory and in-plant rapid testing and trouble-shooting.
Streats' Labcom 8+ now features advanced data mangement.
Industrial cutting machine
Integrated Textile Solutions (ITS) has recently purchased a new industrial cutting machine, the GERBERcutter Z7.
"This new machine will allow us to serve our current clients more efficiently and provide more options to win new clients," says David Thornhill, president & COO of ITS. "We're really excited about the possibilities this addition presents."

Stability of material is also essential for quality cutting. The GERBERcutter Z7 combines advanced software with digitally controlled variable vacuum regulation and other features that create maximum material stability during the entire cutting process.
In addition to quality, the new equipment purchase will increase productivity for both ITS and their clients. Cut Works Cut Path Optimizer is part of the new system and allows the machine to lay out a pattern that minimizes waste by getting the most use out of each piece of material. The automatic knife sharpening and cleaning features increases cut quality and lowers preventative-maintenance downtime. The knife cooler/cleaner increases the blade operating life and the Quick Change Drill allows operators to change bits quickly (and without tools).
All of this along with many other aspects of the GERBERcutter Z7 will allow ITS to provide a superior final product on a quick turnaround with the greatest efficiency, productivity, and value possible, Thornhill says.
Lawson-Hemphill Inc., has introduced its latest generation entanglement tester called the EST.This new model utilizes Lawson-Hemphill's high-speed optical sensing technology introduced into the industry more than 23 years ago.The proprietary technology provides accurate measurements with user-friendly software that makes it fast and easy to perform high volume testing. The EST offers a unique feature of measuring and reporting the strength of entangled points at programmed steps of elongation.Very high volume testing is possible because test speeds of up to 400 m/min are possible.
The EST measures the draw tension, entanglements/meter, and related data for each incremental step programmed. All combined, the new EST entanglement tester supplies meaningful data necessary for quality assurance for downstream fabric processing of the filament yarn. This provides assurance the entanglements in the yarn are removed at the right levels needed in fabric formation.
Lawson-Hemphill also announced its latest generation HDK-DFT with Full Auto Changer, an instrument for simultaneously measuring draw force on a yarn while knitting the yarn for dye checks. The HDK-DFT is used both in routine testing of POY in direct spinning applications and for remelt spinning to optimize the process conditions. It is excellent for checking new master batches and confirming the color consistency with a spectrophotometer.
