Mondi Belcoat is answering the market demand for customized breathable membranes with the installation of a new modular air dryer, enabling the plant to include the extrusion coating of hydrophilic polymers on nonwovens in their portfolio.
The new polydryer supports a continuous production process of moisture sensitive polymers, ranging from master batches to breathable monolithic polymers and polyester, said Jurgen Van der Donck, managing director of Mondi Belcoat. This upgrade significantly increases the speed of our process, resulting in higher capacity and improved efficiency, while at the same time creating economies of scale for individual customer applications, he said.
According to the company, customers benefit from this upgrade for all applications for which optimum barrier control and breathability are key requirements including breathable roofing membranes with UV stability, mattress covers as well as medical disposable products such as drapes and gowns.
