Manmade Fiber

March 1, 2005

Dow’s Ingeo fiber is the first manmade fiber created from 100% renewable resources. This novel product combines the best of both worlds: the performance of a synthetic fiber and the advantages of a natural material. Together with W.I.P., a young company that utilizes organic and innovative eco-friendly raw materials to provide products for the hygiene and personal care markets, Ingeo will take part in the launch of two revolutionary new products that are made from renewable resources. They include new 100% natural cleansing wet wipes, which rely on Ingeo fiber to provide soft, soothing, efficient cleanliness in an eco-friendly product that will compete directly on supermarket shelves with synthetic polypropylene products. Also, Love’N sanitary napkins use a combination of natural and biodegradable fibers including Ingeo fiber to create an all-natural, highly absorbent product. The use of natural fibers including Ingeo fiber means the napkins are comfortable, hypoallergenic and entirely compostable.
