Douglas Dowdell was named senior vice president, Nonwovens, at Buckeye Technologies, Memphis, TN. Mr. Dowdell graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Forestry in 1980. He began his career with Buckeye’s wood pulp operations at Perry, Florida in 1988 and relocated to the Memphis headquarters in 1996 in a new business development role. Mr. Dowdell was elected a corporate vice president in 2000 and assumed his current position as head of the company’s nonwovens division in October 2003.
In other news, Jeffery Cook has been named senior vice president, product and market development. Mr. Cook graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1983. He began his career with Buckeye, which was then a division of Procter & Gamble, in 1984. Mr. Cook spent much of his early career working on consumer products with P&G and returned to Buckeye in 1998 where he has served as vice president of product development—new fibers and head of the company’s product and market development organization.
