Fragrance Release Paper

July 10, 2007

An improved pigment-coated paper for use in manufacturing a fragrance release paper was recently patented. A non-acidic basesheet comprises a blend of softwood and hardwood bleached chemical pulps at the ratio of 30:70 by weight, wherein the basesheet is mildly alkaline. Also included is a coating composition comprising 100 parts by weight of clay, 10 parts by weight of binder and about 1 to about 3 parts by weight of additives applied onto the basesheet. Water is introduced as part of the components of the coating composition or separately as needed. The coating is mildly alkaline when the coating is wet and becomes mildly acidic after the coating is dried on the basesheet.
