Edge Seal For Absorbent Article And Method For Making

February 20, 2007

A disposable diaper comprising a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent core between the two has been patented. The topsheet and the backsheet define a periphery and longitudinal edges. Portions of the longitudinal edges define leg openings when the disposable diaper is worn. On each longitudinal edge, the disposable diaper makes up a discrete edge seal folded about and joined to the longitudinal edges at least at the portions of the longitudinal edges defining leg openings when the disposable diaper is worn. The discrete edge seal completely encircles the portion of the longitudinal edges defining the leg openings. The discrete edge seals do not extend the entire length of the longitudinal edge of the disposable diaper.
