A discrete absorbent article was recently issued a patent. The article includes a carbon black pigmented polypropylene cover layer with a surface area. The cover comprises a pattern of embossed features. Each embossed feature has a major and a minor axis length. The major axis length is greater than or equal to the minor axis length. The item also includes a carbon black pigmented polyethylene apertured transfer layer, an absorbent core and a carbon black pigmented polyethylene backsheet.
