April 27, 2004

Patented is a disposable absorbent article for personal wear with a liquid permeable liner adapted for contiguity with the wearer’s skin; an outer cover and an absorbent body between the liner and the outer cover for absorbing liquid body waste. The article also features a surge layer between the liner and the absorbent body for receiving liquid body waste that penetrates the liner and for subsequently releasing liquid body waste to the absorbent body. The surge layer has an inner surface facing the liner and an outer surface facing the absorbent body.
