Propylene Polymer Fibers and Yarns

A patent has been issued for bulked continuous filament yarn made up essentially of substantially continuous filaments. The yarn has a bulk level of 2-20%, denier of 500-3000. The shrinkage is 1-15% and the Plug Crush Recovery is at least 85%. The filaments consist of crystalline polypropylene homopolymer that has a melting point of about 168°C or a crystalline polypropylene homopolymer with at least one additive that is a pigment, process aid, flame retardant, heat stabilizer, light stabilizer, antimicrobial agent, electrically conductive material, antistatic agent or stain resisting agent.
